Hacton Lane

Hornchurch Essex.

Lt. Kurt Schunemann

and

Uffz. Hans Mescheder

both baled out but killed

after combat during The Battle of Britain

Shot Down by RAF Fighter.

The Excavation of this aircraft was carried out on 23rd September 1984

the remains of this aircraft are still extant

Among the remains found were, one Daimler-Benz DB 601-A V12 engine,

one undercarriage leg and various smaller parts from the aircraft.


'Black Saturday'

It was reported that 348 German bombers, accompanied

by 617 fighter planes attacked London on

September 7, 1940. Around 1000 bombs and other

incendiary devices were dropped on strategically

important areas, like The Royal Docks.
